Novice Course
The novice course caters for prospective paddlers of all fitness levels. Whatever your current level of fitness is, we guarantee that you will be significantly fitter after 2 months of regular training. The cost of participating in our novice course is $30 for 3 sessions. You may flexibly use your 3 sessions within a calendar month. The first session is commitment-free (i.e. if you don't like it after the first session, you need not pay; you'll only need to pay $30 on your second session).
Come down on a Sunday morning and try it out! Please arrive by 8:15am.
All you need to bring is positive attitude, sun protection, a water bottle and a change of clothes (it's a water sport!). Please contact us prior to your first visit so that we can welcome you! This document will give you a sense of what to expect; please read it ahead of your first visit.
Dragon boating offers the opportunity to meet new people and to improve your fitness in a fun and social environment. So whether you are a recreational paddler or someone who takes pleasure in the exhilaration of training and the challenge of competitive racing, contact us now!
Season Membership Costs
Being a not-for-profit entity, Sydney Dragon Blades' membership price is very much determined by the costs of providing and replacing equipment, (such as club training paddles, boat hire, lights etc) insurance, as well as DBNSW membership fees. For the 2008/09 season, SDB is charging a highly-competitive $250 per person, which includes all race fees (excluding National Championships), equipment hire, site hire, coaching, insurance and a club uniform. This price may vary as the season progresses.
Training Venue
We train at Bank Street, Pyrmont, underneath the Pyrmont Bridge and near the Sydney Fish Markets. Parking is available on-site. For those arriving by public transport, it is quite easy to catch the light rail from Central station and alight at either the John Street Square or Fish Markets Stations. Click here for a Google map of the training location.
Public transport information is available via the Transport Info Line on 131-500 or www.131500.com.au
